Applying for benchmarking

Eligibility

Any pub operating company which publishes a code of practice may apply for Benchmarked Status.

How to apply & Fee structure

A pub operating company wishing to apply for Benchmarked Status will be asked to submit a duly completed application form to the Scheme Secretariat along with 7 copies of the code of practice, together with the Fee.  Further details are contained in the Scheme Rules and Regulations .  If you have any queries, please contact Naomi Milsom at

The Process

The Scheme Secretariat will examine the code of practice in the context of the Criteria to ensure that each topic set out in the Criteria is covered and meets the minimum standard adequately.  Any inadequacies will be discussed with the pub operating company within 7 working days of receipt of the application.

When, in the opinion of the Scheme Secretariat, adequacy has been achieved, the code of practice will be submitted to the Benchmarking Committee along with a recommendation of whether Benchmarked Status should be awarded.

Rules and Regulations

By applying for Benchmarked Status, a pub operating company undertakes to BIIBAS that it will comply with the Rules.  BIIBAS agrees to comply with the Rules and to notify any Benchmarked pub operating company or any pub operating company who has submitted an application of any amendments to the Rules within a reasonable time by displaying the amended Rules and Regulations on the BIIBAS Website.

Advice

The Scheme Secretariat will provide an advisory service for Pub Companies in respect of drafting codes of practice and for pub operating companies making or considering making an application.
